Illiana Expressway Updates

Two quick updates on this proposed Toll Road through Northwestern Indiana.

State Senator Vic Heinold is suggesting that the state consider a route further south that would minimize the impact on southern Porter County. He would like to route part of the road through Starke County instead.

And an article in the Gary Post-Tribune also talks about potential amendments to the Toll Road bill (Senate Bill 1) that would give the legislature the ability to approve the final route selection for the road. Additionally, opposition is getting organized in Northwest Indiana. A group calling itself Citizens Opposed to Illiana Expressway is planning to hold an organizational meeting on Wednesday.
